Patient Care
Overview
The University of Florida Health Science Center is dedicated to providing quality healthcare to the citizens of Florida and to advancing the practice of patient care. Our six HSC colleges, major research centers and institutes, and clinical enterprise focus on building collaborative specialized clinical services centered on quality and innovation. Our vision is to optimize our collective expertise in order to improve patient care, education, discovery, and the health of the community as we aspire to be a preeminent academic health center.
Our success is predicated on research-based, multidisciplinary, cross-college programs. Centers of Excellence are staffed by nationally and internationally recognized UF faculty clinicians and expert Shands and UF teams providing specialized cancer, cardiovascular, neurological, orthopaedics, pediatric, transplantation and women and family care. Faculty clinicians from all HSC colleges practice and teach in hundreds of clinics and hospitals throughout Florida and south Georgia.
The HSC clinical enterprise serves as a major referral resource for physicians across Florida and the country. HSC colleges both train future and serve current healthcare professionals from all disciplines. In addition, we remain committed to our community connections by providing care to underserved citizens throughout the region.
College of Medicine, University of Florida Physicians includes a wide range of specialties and provide patient care in state of the art academic environments. Seventy percent of our College of Medicine interns and residents will practice within 150 miles of where they train, thus helping to create Florida’s future healthcare workforce.
