AISS and IT Center News (MAY 2009):
- ITCSA has recently expanded their Virtualization Capabilities. The new Virtual Infrastructure cluster has be added into production service. Virtualization Hosts can be purchased now for as low as $420.02/year. Contact itcsa@health.ufl.edu for detailed more information.

- This month, as Phase 1 of a UF Fax Integration, ITCSA and HealthNet will be provisioning a new Facsimile Service for HSC Units. Features will include Fax from Email interfaces, as well as Fax to existing Fax Equipment. Thus will dramatically reduce the cost of existing fax services for the HSC and UF. Phase 1 will only include pre-arranged Phase 1 participants. Contact itcsa@health.ufl.edu for detailed more information.

- In June 2009, ITCSA will be increasing the Virtual Infrastructure and Architecture in order to provision pools of Virtual Workstations. These Workstations can be provisioned as "persistent desktop replacements" or "pools of volatile workstations for secure access." Initial Pilot phases are complete. Virtualized Desktops can be purchased now for as low as $150/year. Contact itcsa@health.ufl.edu for detailed more information.

- In cooperation with the DSR and S-VPHA, AISS has completed the installation of a new Storage System to accommodate growing research activities across UF and the HSC. In July 2009, we'll be expanding storage to accommodate future growth. This storage system has been utilized to expand existing research storage requirements, facilitate retention of de-identified VA data, and allow grant funded storage to be purchased economically. The system has capacity to scale to 800GB. Initial provisioning of storage (45TB) is currently available to all HSC/COM research units. Storage can be purchased with Disaster Recovery included.
