About the IT CenterThe IT Center began operating on March 1, 2000. The IT Center was formed by combining the VPHA's Office of Information Technology and DOCoM's Information Services to improve customer services and to ensure efficient use of information technology resources.The IT Center includes four teams. The Customer Support team provides a single point of contact for all services including desktop support. The Information Management team develops and maintains data-rich systems in support of enterprise applications. The Systems Administration team provides essential central services such network operating systems support including e-mail, file sharing, security systems and data backup. The Training team devises, delivers and hosts an extensive variety of training opportunities for faculty and staff. Comments and questions are invited. Please send e-mail to itctlead@lists.ufl.edu. IT Center TeamsCustomer SupportCustomer Support provides a single point of contact for all customers to all IT Center services. Services provided include user authorization, phone support, help desk (planned), training, documentation, web content and presentation, visits to customer sites for PC installs, PC repairs, and assistance.Information ManagementInformation Management develops and maintains data-rich systems in support of enterprise applications. Services include application development, enterprise data systems, report generation, mainframe services, web enabling applications, and local data-based applications.Systems AdministrationSystems Administration provides fundamental services to all customers. Services include backup, security systems, virus protection, network operating systems support, desktop operating system integration, delivery of applications, email, web hosting, database hosting, calendar services, and file and print services.TrainingThe IT Center provides computer training free of charge to all University of Florida faculty and staff.Team LeadersThe team leaders meet at least twice weekly and with the IT-Center Director to share current work in progress, set direction, and plan cross-team service implementation and operations.Futures GroupThe Futures Group was crafted to plan and prepare for new opportunities and technologies. The group collaborates with IAIMS and campus groups to coordinate development of future services. The group will consist of representatives from each team with additional members as needed from outside the IT Center.Additional Information
