Creating a Gatorlink Account
You will need the following information:
- Social Security Number
- 4-digit UF Pin
To set up the Gatorlink account you will need to do the following:
- Create a user name that is between 1 and 8 characters (lowercase letters and/or numbers) long and the user name must begin with a letter
- Choose a password that is at least 8 characters (lowercase letters and/or numbers long)
Some Tips
- The user's four-digit pin must be different from their initial pin number. Pins are initially assigned as their birth month and year (mmyy). Users can change their pin by going to http://www.is.ufl.edu/bawb200h.htm
- The password must be at least 8 characters and cannot be common such as a word in the dictionary or a person's name.
- Users may only create one account.
Useful Information
- Each user gets 20MB of space on a server. If someone sends you a message that causes you to exceed your mailbox limit it will be placed in your mailbox and you will get a warning message to let you know that you have exceeded your quota. Subsequent mail messages will be queued for a short time to allow you to clear up some storage space by deleting or downloading-and-deleting some mail messages. If you do not do this promptly, your messages will be bounced back to the sender.
- To login from home, use the username with a "slash I" as in (username/I). Phone number is 955-0056.
- If a password has expired: Use the GatorLink "Guest" dialup to get restricted web access to the GatorLink web pages. To use "Guest" dialup, replace the username/i and password with username guest and password guest, and dial up as usual. Your web browser can access the GatorLink page and you can change your password from there.
- Fifteen hours (900 minutes)of free dialup are available per month for undergraduate students, USPS and OPS staff. Sixty hours(3600 minutes) of free dialup per month are available to graduate and professional students (e.g. Medicine, Vet Med, Pharmacy). 105 hours (6300 minutes) of free dialup is available to Faculty, Post-Doctoral Associates, A&P staff and Health Center Residents.
- A flag will need to be released in order to continue to dial in. The user will need to Modify their account at http://www.gatorlink.ufl.edu. Select "General Account Information" and have them check the section that allows charged dialup for $.008/minute ($.48/ hour).
- There is an 800 phone number (800-217- 4096) which can be accessed with your GatorLink account, but you are immediately billed 10 cents per minute for use of this service (does not use free quota.)
