How do I FTP files to/from my web site?

FTP access to the WEB volume

FTP access to web files is provided by a Netware FTP server. Authorized users can login to the FTP server using their fully distinguished username and password.

We now require all FTP sessions to be encrypted via SSL. This is sometimes referred to as FTP over TLS. FTP clients must support this feature for security reasons. If you need a Windows FTP client that supports SSL, you can download Core FTP.

For Gatorlink users, your fully distingushed username is .username.u.users.ufl, where username is your Gatorlink username, and u is the first letter of your Gatorlink username. Please remember to include the leading period. It is important.

If your are logging in using an account other than Gatorlink, contact your computer support team and ask them for your fully distinguished NDS username. You can also ask the IT Center for help.

A sample login configuration for Core FTP is shown above -- note the transfer type has been set to passive mode, which may be necessary if your computer is behind a firewall. Also notice the SSL Options have been set for secure communication with our server, and the client has been told not to save passwords.

Once you are logged in, you must change directory to the web files location. The directory you want to change to is /web.
