UF Health Science Center Wide E-mail Lists

The following e-mail lists have been created to allow distribution of e-mail to large communities within the Health Science Center, including nearly everyone with a valid e-mail address. These lists simply point to other lists created and managed by HSC colleges and affiliated units. Represented HSC colleges and/or units are responsible for maintaining the accuracy and comprehensives of their lists.

Use of HSC-wide e-mail lists

E-mail list management tips are now available for HSC faculty and staff who create and manage lists using CNS's ListServ server.

Be advised, if anti-spam settings in CNS's ListServ identify your message as potential spam, you will be unable to post messages to these lists for 48 hours.

NOTICE:
As of 08-23-2002, attached files will no longer be distributed by the All HSC list.

E-mail lists are created and maintained to facilitate university business. These lists may not be used for commercial, personal, or political messages.

Guidelines defined by the University of Florida's Acceptable Use Policy must be followed by anyone utilizing these lists. Messages submitted to these lists must originate from the University of Florida's e-mail domain. That is, submissions from people using e-mail addresses which do not end in "UFL.EDU" will not be accepted.

Before sending a message to one of these lists, ensure that the message will be of suitable interest to the specific group. When sending widely distributed e-mail messages, choose the smallest list that will adequately reach the intended audience. For instance, for a message regarding tenure, the smallest applicable group would be "faculty" since staff and students are not directly affected by this topic. Likewise, a message regarding class registration would best be sent to a "students" list. Messages intended for particular colleges by may be sent by following references provided below.

Generally, it is a good idea to avoid using multiple addresses on any message being sent to large e-mail lists. This includes To:, cc: and bcc: address lines. Failing to heed this advice may result in unintended list behavior -- particularly in terms of ListServ's ability to suppress multiple copies of the same message, and may help avoid being inappropriately labeled as a 'spammer.'
