IT Center ServicesIT Center's Customers and Services matrix: A spreadsheet documenting which customers are utilizing specific services. Our Systems Administration team provides a variety of Commodity IT services available for HSC, College of Medicine and associated Institute/Center consumption. Find detailed descriptions on these services here. Our Windows XP desktop platform provides a stable, functional and well supported work environment. We provide a full set of workgroup applications, virus protection, and security updates. The IT Center provides support for the VPHA offices, College of Medicine Dean's office, College of Nursing, and a number of other HSC units. Our services include hardware installation, assistance with common applications, and support of network based services. Our email system serves over 1250 customers using Exchange 2003. We provide a web-based interface to GatorLink email - see https://webmail.ad.ufl.edu/. Our email and other systems are accessible from off campus via UF Cisco VPN or Webmail. Our Apache and IIS application platforms provides a stable, high capacity, secure environment for web hosting. We run the latest version of Apache, and have .ASP and .NET 2.0 platforms. The IT Center Help Desk (273-5300) can assist with Gatorlink accounts including resetting passwords. Our Help Desk is available from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Please call 273-5300 or send email to itccs-l@lists.ufl.edu The IT Center hosts training for the Health Science Center in the IT Center Training Room. We offer training on desktop applications and email. We host faculty and staff development. Our Training Room has 15 networked student workstations, an instructor workstation, computer projection, smart board, and instructor control software. The room will be equipped for distance learning and our training programs will be offered to faculty and staff in Jacksonville. Our web consultants can assist your staff in designing a web site that you can create and maintain. Web page development and maintenance The IT Center develops and maintains web pages for the Health Science Center and Dean's Office, College of Medicine. Business forms for all purposes can be found on-line. Access to administrative applications requires security authorizations. Our staff will assist you in obtaining the appropriate security authorizations for your administrative access needs. Using various data sources, programmers produce reports in a variety of formats for recurring or ad hoc use. We develop and maintain a variety of special purpose software programs to meet business needs. myUFL-based reports are published in the Health Science Center's Special Newsboxes The IT Center utilizes industry proven best practices for managing computer assets including standard hardware configurations and regular replacement cycles. This results in higher availability, better support, and lower total cost of ownership. We support Windows XP on the desktop, Microsoft Clustering for file and print services, UF Active Directory for directory services and resource control, Windows 2003 server for special and integrated application hosting, and LINIX for web/application hosting. Purchasing Support and Consulting services Our staff can assist you with planning and deploying your IT services. In particular, the IT Center can recommend purchases of hardware and software that are compatible with existing systems, supported by our staff and provide value to your operation. The IT Center manages HealthNet port charges for supported units and CNS's Bulk Rate services contract resulting in substantial dollar savings for the Health Science Center. Additional contracts cover maintenance and consulting services in support of strategic systems. Liaison with other IT service providers The IT Center works in coordination with Health Science Center computing coordinators, Shands@UF, HealthNet, CNS, AT, UF Bridges, the Registrar's Office and other providers of IT services. IT Center staff serve on advisory committees and work groups to facilitate cooperation and collaboration across the enterprise. |
